Atlantic Challenge visited Douarnenez for the second time for the 2000 contest, which was won by the Irish gig Unite. As well as the Atlantic Challenge, Douarnenez hosted a huge traditional wooden boat festival and parade of sail, including over twenty Bantry Bay Gigs from communities across France and Belgium.
